This method usually asks you to imagine a fictional character (or past client) using demographic and psychographic data to decribe them.
You’re encouraged to “get specific” by naming their age, gender, job title, income level, where they shop, what they watch on Netflix, and whether they prefer oat milk or almond.
The better you know this character, the better you are able to create content, offers, and messaging that “speaks directly to them,” resulting in more aligned clients and better conversions.
Unless you have worked with perfectly fitting clients already, you are giving strangers/ficititious characters a lot of power over making decisions for your target audience
It ignores your own lived experience. Your energy, boundaries, values, and process matter just as much as those of your ideal client.
